Faith is an indispensable spiritual commodity that every Christian should have. Faith is the currency of the kingdom of God. It is the legal tender by which believers on earth transact with God in heaven. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” In other words, it takes faith to deal with God. Also, our Christian experience is often a reflection of the quality and the quantity of our faith. The more faith we have, the more heavenly interventions, resources and provisions we can experience. Those who have and exercise their faith in God will often see God at work in their lives. In Matthew 17, the disciples did all they could to cast out a demon but they couldn’t. Then, they asked Him in a private discussion, “Why could we not cast it out?” Matthew 17:19. “So Jesus said to them, “Because of your little faith, for truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain move from here to there, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20-17:21 We can also point to things and situations that we find very difficult to deal with. Like the disciples, we ask, “Why could we not do it?” Our answer might be similar to the response Jesus gave the disciples. It could be due to our unbelief. Nothing, Jesus said, will be impossible for you if you have faith. This makes learning to have faith in God an integral part of our calling as Christians. Here are a few ways one can learn to have faith in God: Give Yourself to Reading and Meditation in the Word. As you read and meditate on several stories of men and women who lived a life of faith in the Bible, your faith will begin to grow. You will be challenged and inspired also to live and walk in faith. Your faithlessness will be exposed and you will often find yourself crying to God like the father of the child in Mark 9:24, “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” Listen to Messages on Faith. Messages of and on faith will also boost your faith. When you listen to anointed messages on faith, it is bound to accelerate your ability to live and walk by faith. You will see perspectives on faith that you couldn’t see by yourself during your own time of meditation in the word of God. This is why it is important to belong to a community of faith where God’s word is preached accurately. Remember, “So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ” Romans 10:17. Listen to Testimonies of Faith. One of the ways you can learn to have faith is to maximize moments when people share testimonies of what God has done for them in church. It has a way of giving you the “If God can do it for him, He can do it me” effect especially when the testimony shared is similar to yours. Testimonies of the divine provision will boost your faith when you are in lack. Testimonies of healing will help you trust God for your healing when you are in sickness. To boost the faith in Mary that it was possible for her to conceive without knowing a man, Gabriel shared the testimony of Elizabeth with her. This helped the faith of Mary who eventually conceived and became the mother of Jesus. Pray a Lot. Prayer impacts and helps our faith. When the apostles were threatened and told to stop preaching in the name of Jesus, it weakened their resolve but they went back and prayed. The Bible says, “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness” Acts 4:31. In prayer, you can give God your fears and let Him replace it with faith. In prayer, God has a chance to remind you of His words that can boost your confidence. All men of faith, with testimonies and exploits of faith, are men of prayer. Take Steps of Faith. Faith will not work until you act on it. It doesn’t matter what you hear, what you do is what converts God’s word into reality. Act on the word of God as soon as it comes to you. Fear is the enemy of faith and it sets in when you delay in taking the steps of faith. You will lose the urgency and allow dissenting voices that dilute your faith to come in when you delay actions of faith. Everyone feels fear when it comes to taking actions of faith but it is taking immediate action despite fear that resolves it. One of the qualities of Abraham the father of faith is that He acts on God’s word almost immediately. He doesn’t delay! When he was asked to send the bondwoman, Hagar away, the Bible records, “So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a skin of water; and putting it on her shoulder, he gave it and the boy to Hagar, and sent her away” Genesis 21:14. He didn’t delay. When he was asked to go and sacrifice his only begotten son just after he had sent Ishmael away, he didn’t delay. The Bible says, “So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him” Genesis 22:3. There may be moments when it seems your act of faith didn’t work out as expected, it shouldn’t deter you from trusting God even more. A child learning how to walk doesn’t give up on walking simply because he fell. You must keep trusting Him until you know Him. You must have the confidence that everything is working together for your good.

The ability to hear God’s voice is the ultimate secret to victory over any crisis situation. With God’s leading, you can find solutions to problems that confound you. It was God’s voice through Moses that helped the Israelites not just to escape Pharaoh but also cross over the red sea. When they were faced with the indomitable walls of Jericho, it was God’s leading that helped them to know what to do to crash the terrifying wall. God’s voice helped Isaac to stay in Gerar when the reasonable thing to do was travel out in search of a greener pasture. As a result of his obedience, Isaac became so rich in famine to the extent that his neighbors envied him. It doesn’t matter how turbulent or challenging the crisis you find yourself, all you need is to discover God’s mind about the situation. The real reason for your frustration is not the crisis itself but your inability to discern the solution which is always available in God. Unfortunately, one of the most difficult things to do is remain calm in crisis. This makes it difficult to listen or discern God’s voice. One is bound to be restless, impatient and impulsive when one suddenly comes under a crisis situation. This is the reason the Israelites became restless when Pharaoh suddenly appeared behind them. They thought they were completely free when the enemy resurfaced again. Meanwhile, it is still possible to discern God’s voice in times of crisis. The following are some of the ways we can listen to God in a time of crisis; Make the Most of the Seasons of Peace. We prepare for war in times of peace. It will be difficult to discern the voice of God in crisis if you are not accustomed with that voice before the time of crisis. You cannot know God using a fire-brigade approach. This is why it is often difficult for many people to listen to God when in crisis. You should never wait for a season of crisis before you intentionally develop your relationship with God. Saul ignored God for a very long time. There was scarcely any record of a time when he intentionally built an altar or prayed. But when he was faced with the army of the philistines, he ran to God only to be faced with utter silence. The Bible says, “When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly. And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets” 1 Samuel 28:5-6. Saul resorted to a witch thereafter. Pray A Lot. Seasons of crisis are times to increase the tempo of prayer. Spend more time with God in prayer. Pray a lot. This is the pattern that you will see throughout the Bible. When Hannah was being taunted by her rival because she was barren, she went to pray. It was while she was praying that God’s word came to her through Eli, the priest 1 Samuel 18-18. Hezekiah prayed when he was sick until God’s word came through the prophet and an extra fifteen years was added to his life 1 Kings 20:1-7. Prayer will subdue your agitated mind and make it more receptive to the voice of the Spirit. Declare God’s Word Loudly with Your Mouth. Just like prayer, one of the ways you can listen to God in crisis is declaring the written word loudly with your mouth especially words that are directed related to the situation. By standing on God’s word, declaring it loudly with your mouth, your anxious mind will become calm, you will grow in confidence from the reassurance that comes from God’s word and then, you will begin to hear God beyond the written word. Declaring God’s word this way takes your eyes off the situation and focuses it on the ability and power of God. Be Still. When the Israelites were perplexed beside the red sea, Moses told them, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today…” Exodus 14:13. This same word is found in Psalm 46:11; “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” There is power is being still even though it is difficult when you are under pressure. But if you apply yourself to God’s word and decide to obey and remain still, it will unlock the needed solution to the crisis at hand. Isaiah 30:15 says, “In quietness and confident trust is your strength.” Through stillness, Moses perceived God’s mind and led God’s people through the sea. God has a solution to your crisis if you will apply yourself and choose to listen to Him instead of getting worried and worked up.

Forgiveness is the act of pardoning someone especially when they have done something wrong to you. This is one of the biblical principles that is very difficult for most people to practice. This is because the nature of mankind has always been tit for tat, that is if you wrong me, I repay you by wronging you and that is where vengeance comes in. But what is the plan of God concerning forgiveness? How does God want us to deal with people that have wronged us? One day while Jesus Christ was with his disciples, Peter, one of the disciples, came to Jesus with a question about forgiveness. Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times? “Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.” Mathew 18:21-22 According to Peter, forgiveness was supposed to be seven times. Peter wanted to know the exact number of times he is required to forgive someone. He also wanted to know if the same person continues to offend him past the seven times of forgiveness what should be done to him? It is not funny that we have individuals who also have their limits of forgiveness. Some say that they will only forgive someone a certain number of times and if the person exceeds the set number of times, they will have to repay for the wrong that they have done. I believe the response of Jesus to Peter wasn’t expected. But the answer given by Jesus Christ shows that we should always be ready to forgive however many times. This is because I believe no one records exactly the number of times that they have forgiven someone in the past and if they do so, recording the seventy times seventy would be so cumbersome and one may quickly forget how many times they have forgiven a particular person so far. Jesus Christ knew that such teaching may be difficult for Peter and the people listening to Him to understand. Now, this led Jesus to further explain this through the parable of the unforgiving servant. This parable explains what forgiveness should be in the kingdom of heaven. That there was a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants and when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment is made. The servant, therefore, fell down before him, saying, “Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all. Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, pay me what you owe! So, his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, have patience with me, and I will pay you all. And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. So, when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, you wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you? And his master was angry and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. Then Jesus concluded by saying so my heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.” Mathew 18:23-35. From this parable, God is likened to the forgiving Master and if we find it difficult to forgive our brother we are likened to the unforgiving servant. The parable opens our eyes to see and wonder how someone who has been forgiven much ten thousand talents can fail to forgive someone who owes them only a hundred denarii. It is so sad that even after his fellow servant begging him, he declined to forgive forgetting that he once begged his master and was forgiven. That is how it feels when we fail to forgive one another. The reason why this parable was written is for our learning. We should always remember this parable when we find it hard to forgive one another. Just as the unforgiving servant, we also have been forgiven much and many times by our heavenly Father. When Adam sinned in the garden of Eden the scripture says that sin entered the world and death through sin spread to all men. Romans 5:12 This means that everyone born after Adam was born in a position known as in Adam where all are dead. 1 Corinthians 15:22. This death state of man has been described well by Apostle Paul in the book of Ephesians. “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.” Ephesians 2:1-3 Indeed, the original state of man without Christ is very pathetic. Every man minus Christ Jesus is dead in trespasses and sins, he is a son of disobedience, fulfills the evil desires of the flesh and mind and by nature he is a child of wrath. And because our God is a God of justice, His justice demands that all sins should be punished. For the wages of sin is death, according to Romans 6:23. Among all mankind, none was found perfect and sinless to pay the penalty of sin to make himself escape the punishment of is which is eternal destruction, which is death in the lake of fire. Therefore, man had a debt that was too much for him to pay. Man was in a state of helplessness and hopelessness. But because God is full of love and forgiveness Psalms 130:4, He demonstrated His own love towards us that when we were still sinners, He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to come and He died a painful death at the cross to save us. Romans 5:8 Therefore, in Christ Jesus God has forgiven us. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 The above scripture explains clearly that while Christ was at the cross God was in Christ with the aim of not counting up and holding against men their trespasses but cancelling them through forgiveness. That is why salvation is totally by the grace of God. No one qualified and deserved to be saved because all had sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Paul explains it better in the verse below. “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14 Now the question is, how does God help me to forgive someone? The answer is very simple. Just as Jesus Christ narrated to His disciples the parable of the unforgiving servant to explain forgiveness, the gospel of the salvation of mankind has been proclaimed so that from it we can see that just as no one deserved to be saved but through the grace, mercies and forgiveness of God all who only by placing their faith in Christ Jesus are forgiven all their trespasses unconditionally. This has only been made possible by the death of Jesus Christ at the cross. “The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 Finally, let’s observe something very interesting written in the bible. That when Christ had not died at the cross, we see Him teaching His disciples in the Lord’s prayer the reason and the mode of forgiveness. “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom comes. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6: 9-15 But after Jesus Christ dying at the cross and forgiving all our trespasses, the mode of forgiveness now changed. We no longer forgive men their trespasses so that our heavenly Father will forgive us but we look back at what happened at Calvary more than two thousand years ago and forgive men just as Christ forgave us our sins. This is clearly explained by Apostle Paul in His letters. “And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32. “Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. Colossians 3:13 And this is exactly how God helps us to forgive someone, He opens our eyes to behold and learn the truth about forgiveness in the Holy Scriptures. Now what remains of us is to obey what the scripture says. Just look at what Jesus told a certain woman. And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!” But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” Luke 11:27-28

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you…” James 4:8 Many people think of God as some distant being, with no interest in the world he created. But God’s character is not one of indifference; it is one of love. The Bible tells us that God desires a relationship with the people He created. In fact, it’s our entire purpose for existence. God created us to be with Him and enjoy Him forever. So how can we have that relationship? The answer is simple: through His Son, Jesus Christ. See, we live in a broken world. We were made to be in perfect harmony with our Creator, but there is one thing that separates us from Him: our sin. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Our God is a just and a holy God; He cannot let sin and imperfection into His sight. We are, by nature, rebellious against God. but in His mercy, God sent His Son to take the punishment that we deserve. Standing in the gap between God and man, Jesus Christ took the wrath of God upon Himself, so that we could be brought near. The Bible says that without Christ, our relationship to God is enemy, but when we place our faith in Jesus, we are made friends. Even more than that, we become God’s children. John 1:12 says, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” How amazing is that? The same God who created the heavens and the earth is the God who desires to adopt you as His own. Jesus Christ died for the atonement of your sins, and he rose again so that you could enjoy life with Him forever. This is the gospel, and it makes possible what was once impossible: a fully restored relationship with God. Jesus has done all the work for us; all we need to do is believe. He is always pursuing us, giving us opportunities to decide whether we will cultivate our relationship with God or let it fizzle out. We can cultivate our relationship with God by spending time with Him daily. By reading and meditating on His Word, we can come to know more about Him and ourselves. And by coming to Him in prayer, we show that we are trusting Him with our lives. This is the most fulfilling, most rewarding, most important relationship you will ever have. God is the perfect Father. He is more caring than your best friend. He is more loyal than a brother. He is more loving than any spouse. He knows you, and He desires for you to know Him. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Will you come to Him today? Here Are Some More Articles You May Enjoy: Does God Give Us Free Will? What Does It Mean To Be A Christian?

The call to serve God is not a call to dominate people. A servant of God is not superior to the people that they lead. The person that is a servant is called to serve. If we truly understand what it means to be a servant of God, we may not be initially excited about becoming one. Perhaps, this is why people who are called to serve God in the scripture are sometimes very reluctant to respond to God’s call. Unfortunately, most servants of God today have an exaggerated sense of their importance. They have a misconstrued understanding of their roles. Therefore, they misuse the opportunity to serve God’s people. The question then is, how can I maintain my humility as a servant of God? How can we humble ourselves for others as servants of God? But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave — just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:25-28 Understand that leadership in the church is different from leadership in the world. World leaders are bosses, church leaders are servants. We cannot lead in the church with the mentality of the world. Jesus said, “it shall not be so among you.” Understand that your calling is by God’s mercy. You weren’t called because you were smarter or better but it was through God’s mercy. There is no qualification really that qualifies any man or woman to be used by God. It is by His mercy. Paul said, “we have this ministry through the mercy of God” 2 Corinthians 4:1 “For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God — and righteousness and sanctification and redemption — that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 God does not want anyone to take His glory. If you have this understanding, you will remain humble. Intentionally engage in acts of service that keeps you humble. Someone once said, “The hand that cannot wash the toilet cannot be anointed.” In other words, we shouldn’t be so high such that we cannot do what is often considered lowly acts of service such as washing the dishes, sweeping the floor, washing the clothes, and other menial works. Jesus exemplified this when he stooped down and washed the apostles’ feet. Peter was surprised and didn’t oblige but Jesus insisted it had to be done. Jesus was everything to them yet He went so low to wash their feet. Nothing keeps us humble more than intentionally committing ourselves to such acts of service to others. Be close to God. Spending time consistently in God’s presence helps to keep you humble. In His presence, the pride in our hearts is exposed and dealt with. Pride is inevitable when a person is far from God but a person who is close to God learns humility. “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18 If we fail to remain humble, God has a way of subjecting us to experiences that we keep us humble. May the Lord help us to maintain a humble and focused heart in Jesus name. How Do The Desires of Daily Living Take Control of Our Heart From God?
Everyone feels fear especially when we encounter situations beyond our capacity. What makes the difference is what we do when we are afraid. Courage, therefore, is not the absence of fear but the gumption to act in spite of fear. Unfortunately fear has kept many people back. They lack the boldness required to pursue their dreams and fulfill God’s purpose. Very few find the courage to navigate the turbulent sea of life. The question then is, “How do I get courage from the Lord? Be Sure God is Leading You. God is committed only to His projects. If He is not the Beginner, He will not be the Finisher. Don’t take assumptions. God will give you courage if He is the source of the adventure. Consult the Lord. Analyze the Situation. Sometimes, we are afraid because we have not done a detailed analysis of the situation. Mountains become mole hills when we do a critical examination. We will begin to see that the case is not as bad as we have envisioned. Courage grows as we take time to meditate and see the situation with God’s perspective. Think of the Worst Case Scenario. Ask, “What’s the worst thing that can happen?” This immediately births courage. This was what the four lepers at the gate of Samaria did. They were ready for the worst and they move with courage not knowing that when they decided to act, God also decided to act on their behalf. 2 Kings 7:3-8 Look at the Gains. Of Jesus Christ, the Scripture tells us that, “who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” Hebrews 12:2. Jesus courageously endured the cross for us because of the joy set before Him. The gains far outweigh the pains. If we too can focus on the gains, it can motivate us and generate courage within us to take action and move. Be Inspired by the Story of the Courageous. Nothing inspires us like stories of men like us who did the unthinkable. Hebrews 11 is the hall of fame of such men who acted on behalf of God despite their fear. There is no other place where we can generate courage like staying in God’s presence in prayer. The apostles were threatened by the Jews because of the gospel but they went to pray. After they prayed, “…they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness” Acts 4:31. Perhaps, you are still fearful because you have not prayed. Stand on His Promises. As long as Peter was standing on the words of Jesus to come on the waters, he never sank. But when he shifted his stand, he began to sink Matthew 14:28-31. His word is our anchor. It generates courage as often as we read it. Courageous living is not negotiable. We need courage if we will prevail in life. It is also a command that we have to obey. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” Joshua 1:9. Why Do Christians and Non Christians Need Help From God?

Almost everyone anticipates something good especially when there is a prior promise. This is hope. It is that earnest anticipation or confident expectation that comes with believing something positive. Hope is built on faith. Unfortunately, things do not happen the way we expect or when we expect them. We suffer delay and soon discouragement, disappointment and sometimes despair sets in. We lose hope. How then can I keep hope alive when my heart becomes sick and giving up hope? Understand the Difference in Time Zones. The time in America is not the same with that of Africa; heaven does not work with earth’s clock. Mary and Martha expected Him to come immediately and heal their brother Lazarus but He had a different schedule. We must remember that He makes things beautiful in His own time. His time is best. Rely On His Faithfulness. You can trace God’s track record from Abraham to Lazarus, He has always kept His promise. We can rely on His credibility. He is not a man that He should lie. Renew Your Mind. Hope fades from forgetfulness. Go back to the promises and prophecies He gave you. Hope is renewed when we renew our minds with His words. Remind Him. Spend time in prayer reminding Him of His promises. He commands us to “put me in remembrance.” (Isaiah 43:26). This also renews your own strength as you wait on Him. Listen to Contemporary Testimonies. Sometimes we need living proofs. This is why it is important to give attention to the testimonies of God’s people around us. Nothing gives us hope more than knowing that God’s power is still at work today. We gain more confidence that He will do it for us if He did it for others. Speak To Yourself. This was the practice of the Psalmist. He often speaks to himself when his heart grows weak. In Psalm 43:5, he spoke to himself and said, “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God.” When we release empowering words from our own mouths, we become empowered and our hope is renewed. Speak To Someone. Sometimes, it is not even the solution to our problems that we seek but a heart that cares and an ear that listens. When we find that person, hope comes alive, our burdens are lifted and we see our predicaments from a positive perspective. Nothing sucks like bottling up issues on our heart. Speaking to someone gives us the opportunity to vent our burdens. We should never forget that God has “given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” 1 Peter 1:3 NIV. We have “the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time” Titus 1:2 NIV. “And hope does not disappoint…”Romans 5:5 NASB. This is why it has to be kept alive. Hope is the anchor of our soul; we cannot afford to lose it. Why Do Christians and Non Christians Need Help From God?

We are faced daily with things that threaten our peace both from the internal and external environments. People are depressed, diseased, sick, sad, and heartbroken. We hear news of terror, earthquake, corruption, recession, and all kinds of evil that puts us in fear. The biblical word for peace, “shalom” does not mean the absence of challenges but the ability to keep calm in the face of chaos as a result of an inward awareness of the presence of God. So, the question to ask in times like this is, how can I be at peace in the midst of challenges? Know the One who is Peace. Jesus Christ is not just the Prince of peace, He is our Peace. “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation.” Ephesians 2:14-15 NKJV. We may never experience true peace until we know Him. Peace is not a feeling. Peace is a person, Jesus Christ. Repent and Forsake Sin. Sin brings guilt, fear, and ultimately deprives us of peace. When the first man sinned, he lost his confidence; his peace. He began to run away from God presence. He was afraid. We must confess and forsake every known sin if we hope to have his peace in our hearts. Have a Long Term Perspective of your Challenges. When you look at your challenges in the light of eternity, you will always be at peace. When Jesus returns, an end will come to all our woes and everything that threatens our peace. All our tears will be wiped away. This gives us peace. Be Prayerful. In prayer, we get that opportunity to share our deepest concerns with the Lord Himself. We are able to cast our all our cares on Him. Philippians 4:7 tells us what happens when we pray. It says, “…and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” NKJV Feed Deeply and Regularly on the Word. When we read and meditate in the word, we are reminded of His promises. We receive inspiration for our situations in His word. Don’t Worry. This is not just an admonition; it is a command. We must learn to live one day at a time. Matthew 6:34 says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” NKJV Be Grateful. Gratitude flushes out bitterness, fear, and hopelessness from our heart. It helps to see the positive in negativity. An attitude of gratitude will always fill us with peace. We can be at peace despite the times. This is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus. Why Do Christians and Non Christians Need Help From God?
