The spiritual life is sustained through constant communication with God and prayer is the means by which this communication is established. Prayer is indispensable! It is like the oxygen we breathe in to keep life going. One will begin to feel empty and unfulfilled when prayerlessness begins to set in. It will be hard to live a victorious Christian life when one is not praying. The flesh will dominate, sin will set in and Satan will have a field day when a Christian is prayerless. Many Christians struggle to pray and when they do, they are unsure if their prayers get to God. The disciples of Jesus had a similar experience of prayerlessness. They became so frustrated that they cried to Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray!” Luke 11:1. This struggle raises a very pertinent question, How do we pray? How can one pray effectively and consistently? The following are some tips for learning how to pray and pray efficiently. Trust the Holy Spirit. This is the most important factor in learning to pray and developing an effective prayer life. Prayer is spiritual and it would take the Holy Spirit for us to do it the right way. Most of the time, we try to impress God with sweet words instead of depending on the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” So, trust the Holy Spirit each time you kneel to pray. Use the Name of Jesus Christ. The name of Jesus Christ is the authentic signature recognized in heaven that makes our prayer acceptable before God. Jesus said, “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” John 14:13-14. Give yourself to meditation in the word of God. Meditation, not just reading, the word of God has so many impacts on your prayer life. First, it shows you the will of God. This will prevent you from wasting your time asking God to do what is not in His will. In addition, the word of God adds fuel to your prayer. As you meditate in the word, you will begin to get prayer prompts that keep you praying. The more word you have absorbed during meditation, the more words you have to bring to God’s presence. Many believers find it difficult to stay in the prayer place because at some point they have nothing to say again. It will become different when you become a person who is given to meditation. Maintain a Specific Prayer time and Place if Possible. There is power in sticking to a specific place and time when it comes to prayer. It has a way of helping you stay consistent. You will be forced to keep your appointment with God if you have made a promise to meet Him regularly at a particular place and time. Jesus Christ had this lifestyle while He was on Earth. He often resorts to lonely places to pray Luke 5:16. One such place was Gethsemane where He was arrested. Keep a Prayer Journal/List: Keeping a prayer journal or a prayer list will go a long way in helping you maintain the discipline of praying. By keeping a prayer journal, you can easily find people and issues you need to pray about when none is coming to mind in the prayer place. Also, your prayer journal will help you remember and track the record of God’s faithfulness in answering your prayers. Just like anything in life, if we commit daily to the discipline of prayer, we will soon overcome our inability to pray and also fulfil the commandment to pray without ceasing, 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

The question Who Is Jesus looks quite straightforward and it is easy to simply go on Google and get all the information we need about Him. It is easy to regurgitate everything we have learned about His Jewish history in church or religious gatherings and just assume that we know who Jesus is. One might even get pissed off with a topic like this and never attempt to read because of the subtle assumption that we already know who He is. But that is the undoing of several Jewish people around the world today who are still anticipating the coming of the Messiah who left the world more than 2000 years ago. As far as they were concerned, the Messiah could not have come in the way and manner in which Jesus came into the world. It is also the undoing of millions of people around the world today who have not put their faith in Jesus Christ. They have heard about Him and could probably say a few things about Him but they don’t know Him. It Takes Revelation to Know Jesus Jesus visited his hometown and the Bible says, “…He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them…”( Mark 6:6). Why? Their natural knowledge of Him clouded them from discovering who He is and they couldn’t put their faith or trust in Him to receive a miracle as He did in other places. They were too familiar with Jesus. The Bible says, “And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us? So, they were offended at Him” (Mark 6:2-3). Answering the question of who Jesus is, goes beyond being brilliant or being able to surf the internet and give a fantastic answer, it requires revelation. So many people around the world have information about Him but very few experience the transformation that comes through Him because they don’t have a revelation of Him. It would take the Holy Spirit to reveal the person of Jesus to us if we are going to know Him. In Matthew 16:15-17, Jesus asked the disciples, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Peter’s answer sounds so simple and basic but “Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.” We cannot attain a true understanding of the simplest information about Jesus without revelation. We may know it with our heads but it will never transform our hearts. This is why enumerating who Jesus is, goes beyond the ability to do research, it takes revelation. Seven Insights About Who Jesus Is: So, who is Jesus? Jesus is the Christ (Matthew 16:16). There were and are several Jesuses in Israel but there is something that distinguishes Jesus from the rest. He is Christ, the Messiah or the Anointed One. In other words, He is the One whom God has distinguished by with a special anointing to accomplish a unique assignment. Acts 10:38 says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Several individuals were anointed by God through history but no one carries the anointing in the measure of that of Christ. Jesus is the Son of God (Matthew 16:16). The concept of Jesus being the Son of God is one of the most controversial truths about Jesus especially among the Jews who believe Jesus, being human is claiming equality with God (John 5:18) and among Muslims who believe being the son of a person has to be through biological means and God is too high and holy for such. But Jesus’ life on earth proved that He was indeed God’s Son. He lived like God performing mysterious signs, wonders and miracles. His sonship restores our original identity in Eden and that men can live like gods on earth (Psalm 82:6). Jesus is the Savior of the world (John 1:29). The angel told Joseph to name Him Jesus because He is going to save us from our sins (Matthew 1:21). Sin is the greatest problem of the human race. It is the source of all other crises that we experience in the world and this is essentially why Jesus came to the world; to save us from our sins. Jesus is the Mediator between man and God (1 Timothy 2:5). Sin created a very big gulf between us and God. So big was the gulf that all our works of righteousness couldn’t fill it up. We were at a distance from God. We were separated but Jesus showed up and bridged the gap. Now, we have free and unhindered access to God because of Him. He broke the wall of separation so that we can now come confidently to the throne of grace. Jesus is Life (John 14:6). Many people define life in terms of their wealth, riches, connections, certificates, positions and power. Others think of life in terms of how much of pleasure they can derive from it but the scriptures made it clear that it is only in Christ that we can find life. It doesn’t matter the amount of pleasure we give to our bodies or the number of things we can acquire, there is a longing in the hearts of men and women that can only be satisfied through the knowledge of God through Jesus Christ. And He doesn’t just give us abundant life here on earth, He also gives us eternal life hereafter. Jesus is the most powerful individual in heaven and earth (Philippians 2:9-11). There are leaders or presidents of nations of the world today with so much power either in terms of military or monetary powers but Jesus through times remains the most powerful individual in the history of not just the earth but also the heavens. He had the power to suspend nature (Matthew 14:22-36), to come back to life after death, and heal sicknesses and diseases. By His power, the arrogance of Herod was dealt with when an angel struck Him and worms ate him up alive (Acts 12:21-23). After the resurrection of Jesus, He told His disciples, “All power in heaven and on earth is given to me” (Matthew 28:18). Anyone seeking any form of power should resort to Him. Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6). Truth is becoming subjective as the world becomes more civilized. Different ideologies are coming up every day. Godly values and convictions are being re-examined based on what constitutes the truth. But the Bible is unequivocal about what is the Truth. Truth is not just a concept, a statement or an ideology, it is a Person – Jesus Christ. As we know Him as the Truth, we can trust the words that come from Him as true even when they go contrary to the world’s concept of truth. We become sanctified and separated from the contamination that is in the world as we hold on to His word as the truth (John 17:17). The more we look at God’s word, the more we discover who Jesus is. We must remain committed to discovering and rediscovering Him because it is easy to get distracted and lose sight of Him. Our spiritual sanity is preserved only as we remain committed to who Jesus is.

Many people think of repentance as a turning away from sin. Regretting sin and turning away from it are both related to repentance, but they are not the same thing. The term repent means “the act of leaving what God has prohibited and returning to what he has commanded” in the Bible. True repentance, according to the Bible, will result in a change of behavior, Luke 3:8–14; Acts 3:19. “I proclaimed that they should repent and turn to God, and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds,” Paul summarizes his preaching, Acts 26:20. Repentance, according to the Bible, is a change of heart that leads to a change of behavior. Recognizing that you have thought incorrectly in the past and deciding to think correctly in the future is what repentance entails. The contrite individual is having “second thoughts” about the mindset he previously held. There is a shift in attitude and a new way of thinking about God, sin, holiness, and carrying out God’s purpose. True repentance is caused by “godly grief,” and it “leads to salvation,” 2 Corinthians 7:10. Faith and repentance can be viewed as two sides of the same coin. It’s impossible to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior without first changing your mind about your sin, as well as who Jesus is and what He’s done. It is a change of mentality, whether it be repentance for willful rejection or repentance for ignorance or apathy. In terms of salvation, biblical repentance is shifting your thinking from rejection of Christ to faith in Him. We do not repent in order to obtain salvation. Unless God draws a person to Himself, no one can repent and come to God, John 6:44. God grants repentance; it is only possible because of His grace, Acts 5:31; 11:18. No one can repent unless God gives them the ability to do so. God draws us, opens our eyes, and changes our hearts, which results in all of salvation, including repentance and faith. God’s patience, as well as His love, bring us to repentance, 2 Peter 3:9, Romans 2:4. The parable of the prodigal son shows God’s love and the power of forgiveness. No matter how far you’ve drifted from the Father, there’s always an outstretched arm waiting to embrace you and forgive all of your transgressions. In the Parable of the Prodigal Son, one of the two sons had abandoned the family in order to live his own life. He reached rock bottom in a pig enclosure, where he actually came to his senses. “I will arise and go to my father and say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,” he said when the time to return to his father arose Luke 15:18. When you’re getting set to visit your father, he’ll be waiting for you to arrive, eager to accept you and show you the same affection he had for you before. His love is always unconditional whenever he expresses it. Luke 15:20 plainly quotes it. “But his father saw him and was overwhelmed with sympathy for him; he raced to his son, put his arms around him, and kissed him when he was still a great way away.” The father didn’t wait for his son to apologize when he saw his. He dashed over to meet him. After the embraces and kisses, the son was finally able to apologize. That is, indeed, his affection. You can’t take his love and forgiveness for granted all of the time if you have the perspective that you can sin and beg for forgiveness. “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy,” Proverbs 28:13. Yes, you must confess as well as renounce in order to receive God’s mercy, care, and forgiveness. In Matthew 12:31, Jesus says “And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.” There is someone standing among you whom you do not know, John the Baptist declared to the people in John 1:26. It is possible to forgive those who have wronged Jesus, especially those who crucified Him on the cross. Remember Jesus words just after He was nailed to the cross. “Father, pardon them since they have no idea what they are doing,” Luke 23:34. Because they had no idea what they were doing, God can forgive them. They acted in a state of denial. This indicates that the sin against the Holy Spirit, on the other hand, cannot be committed inadvertently. You are no longer in the dark when you commit such a sin. So, the distinction here is between failing to identify Jesus and deliberately rejecting Him after He has been identified. In a minute, we’ll return to the sin against the Spirit. It is obvious that repentance is the only way to regain God’s entire favor, love, and concern. Repentance leads to sin forgiveness. Repentance is what will bring you closer to the Father, as the prodigal son says, “I sinned against heaven and before you.” Jesus forgives all sins, casts them into the sea, covers them up so He won’t see them again, and welcomes you back into the family as His son or daughter. One is considered to be unable to change one’s history. No, but God has the power to intervene. He is an expert on the history. All my sin is blotted out by the shadow of the Cross. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more”, Hebrews 8:12.

Jesus of Nazareth is perhaps the most fascinating man in all of human history. For millennia, people have been divided over who, exactly, this mysterious figure was. Some say he was a good moral teacher. Some say he was a prophet. Some say he is the Christ, the Son of God. But regardless of one’s personal beliefs, at least two things are evident: he existed, and; his impact on the world was and is undeniable. What is it about Jesus that captivates us, even to this day? While it’s impossible to capture every single aspect of him in such a short time, we can gain a remarkable sense of who he is by examining the ultimate source of truth: The Bible. Jesus, The Son of Man “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14 What does it mean for the Word to become flesh? In this case, the writer John is referring to the Word of God – in other words, the very essence of God Himself. Christians believe that there is one God, manifested in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus, the Son, took on the form of a human and became like one of us. While the concept of the Trinity remains strange and elusive, it tells us an important truth: God Himself walked the earth as the man Jesus. As the Christmas story goes, Jesus was born of the virgin Mary in the town of Bethlehem. For most of his life, it seems that he lived a relatively normal life. He was raised in the Jewish tradition. He was a carpenter alongside his father, Joseph. He ate and drank and had a body just like ours. All of this to say: Jesus was 100% human. And as we will see later, he was also 100% God. Jesus, The Itinerant Preacher “Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God.” Luke 8:1 When Jesus began his ministry, he went from town to town preaching on all sorts of topics, but with one main theme: “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.” Now, the Jews had heard this message before; in fact, this was God’s main message to Israel for much of the Old Testament. The religious leaders and teachers would have studied the scriptures day and night, soaking in this very same message. But Jesus presented it in a completely new way. Matthew 7:28-29 says, “And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.” Of course, Jesus spoke with authority because he had ultimate authority. Jesus captivated the crowds. He often spoke in parables, stories that even his disciples couldn’t understand. And he told the crowds about the only way to salvation: through himself. This was perhaps the most controversial of his teachings. In fact, it might have been partially responsible for the religious leaders’ desire to kill him. Jesus’ claim to be divinely involved in the salvation of man was what set him apart from all the other prophets who had gone before. Jesus, The Miracle Worker “And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.” – Matthew 9:35 As amazing as Jesus’ preaching was, there was a far greater attractor: his miracles. In the New Testament, we see Jesus performing all kinds of signs and wonders: turning water into wine, healing the sick, giving sight to the blind. He even raised a man from the dead! There seemed to be no limit to what he could do. He did these things mainly for two reasons: to show the world who he was and, ultimately, to glorify His Father in Heaven. Imagine being an Israelite in Jesus’ time. By now, it had been centuries since God had intervened in a big way in their lives. They had likely heard stories of all the miracles in the Old Testament, but many probably doubted. Jesus’ ability to perform miracles assured them that God was still at work – and that he was working through a man named Jesus. Jesus, The Messiah “And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.” – Daniel 7:14 Daniel prophesied Jesus’ coming over 700 years before his birth. And he was certainly not the first one to do so. By the end of the Old Testament, the nation of Israel, God’s chosen people, was in turmoil. They had been conquered and oppressed time and time again by foreign nations. But God promised them a savior – the Messiah. For years, Israel had been waiting for this Messiah, someone who would defeat their enemies and restore their kingdom. Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies – every single word. But when he came, most failed to recognize him, for he was not who they expected. Jesus was not a mighty military commander or political ally. He was not a ruler or a king – at least not in the way they were hoping. Jesus came not to save them from political unrest, but from their sins. Even more radically, Jesus would die not only for them, but for the whole world. Jesus, The Son of God “He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’” Matthew 16:15-16 At the end of his ministry, Jesus was betrayed by Judas, one of his disciples. Jesus was unjustly put on trial and sentenced to crucifixion. He was mocked, beaten, and spat upon. He was forced to carry his own cross, and he died the most painful death in history. While different scholars blame different groups for Jesus’ crucifixion, the Bible makes it clear that this was part of God’s divine plan. Jesus died for a reason: for the punishment of all our sins. How could he do this? The answer is this: he was the Son of God. Jesus was perfect in every way. He was the only human to never sin. He was the only sacrifice worthy enough to pay for the sins of the world. And so he gave himself up for the sake of sinful humanity. But three days later, he rose from the grave, defeating sin and death once and for all. Jesus was 100% God. And he proved it by overcoming the grave. Jesus, Our Savior “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16 Jesus’ sacrifice so long ago still has huge implications for us today. Just as he died on the cross, he bids us to die to our sins by believing in him. When we repent and confess that his blood is our only hope of salvation, we die to our old selves. And just as he rose again, he gives us new life – eternal life – in him. Jesus is the only one who can fix the problem of sin that separates us from our Creator. He is the only one who can reconcile us to right standing with God. He loved us too much to leave us without hope. Though he ascended 2000 years ago, the offer still stands. He offers salvation freely, not because we deserve it, but because that is who he is. C.S. Lewis once famously said, “A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse.“ Jesus’ claims are bold. His actions are bolder. They demand a response, of one kind or another.
Pastor Dalarian’s Message Born Again With A New Spirit Text: John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. John is telling you that Jesus will fill your spirit and feed your soul. God has given us the keys to his kingdom to make use whole. We need to understand that God has called use out of sin the darkness of the world because of what took place in the garden Eden when Adam and Eve eat from the tree good and evil, which caused of sin. John 3:5 Jesus, this Divine teacher, Jesus was instructing Nicodemus concerning the New Birth and what he has to do to be born again in order to be saved. Jesus tells him that except a man be born of water and spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. V 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. This Spiritual Birth only will work by making a confession with your mouth and believing in thy heart. Paul said in Rome 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; V9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God. Hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. John 3:16 For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Now that many Christian has made the confession they need to be fill with the holy Ghost. This is the thirst that John is talking about in text, that everlasting life, the spirit of God that has been made available in his son death. Many new Christians have not received the holy spirit. It’s not because they don’t believe maybe it’s because they don’t understand that you have to stay out of sin. Jesus told them before he was crucified of this promise that was to come after his death resurrection. In 1 Peter 1:12 to 25 If you read and study God has made away for the New Believer to have a helper to help us stay Holy. In Acts 3:19 tell you to repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the time of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. When you make the confession, you asking in the name of Jesus to forgive you of your sin, that opens the door for the Holy Ghost to come in to you and fill you with God spirit his, presence (John 4:24 God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth). Act 1:4 tell you that you have wait for the promise of God. Jesus told them to wait and tarry for holy Spirit. The new believer should read (chapters) Act 1 and 2 to get and understanding what they need to do in order to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Ephesians 2:2 say wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: James 4 tell the believer how we may overcome and gain God’s favor. James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. That’s why as a believer we need to stay holy. As we grow in grace, we will start understanding the word of God because the Holy Ghost will be your teacher and overcome evil spirit of the flesh but we must study the word of God. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Ephesians 5:26 that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. We can see that we have to apply the word of God to have a relationship with the father our Lord and saver. Amen, as a new born believer you need to read the word of God because the word is part of your amour, it your sword. Ephesians 6:10 to 18, list the armor and then to praying to stay in his presence. Jesus asked his Disciples to pray with him for one hour and they fell asleep, if we don’t pray, we fall asleep just as the disciples did because this our spiritual connection with the Father, we pray in the name of Jesus and Jesus intercedes for us and takes it to the Father. God is the administrator and Jesus is the operator: We are on watch unto God returns for his people amen. Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God: V18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

By human standards, there is obvious inequality among men and women. One noticeable aspect of life where inequality is often measured is the area of our financial status. There is a huge gap between the rich and the poor; the political elite class and the masses. Sometimes this inequality is created as a result of education, exposure or location around the world. Racism is still a challenge in the world it is based on the belief that someone thinks that they are superior to another person due to his or her skin color. Gender is also a very sensitive area where there is inequality. Women have been seen in some cultures as inferior to men for a very long time in history. There are other divides amidst men and women. The world system is such that one is often made to always compete with fellow humans so you won’t become inferior. Most people now live their entire life trying to outsmart others. In spite of all these, the question is, “Does God sees us as equal to each other?” The following is proof that we are equal before God, He created us all in His image. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Nobody is less of God’s image right from the beginning. We are all equal before Him because we are created in His image. He never gave us dominion over one another. The dominion He gave us was over “the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28. No man was meant to dominate the other because we are all equal. Unfortunately, man fell into sin. The enemy made man believe that he was inferior. He sold the idea of a higher or superior place to him and he bought it. He told him God had subdued him and hidden certain things from him and man fell for the lie. “Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.” Genesis 3:4-6. This remains the devil’s strategy; making us feel that we are less, inferior, disadvantaged or misplaced. There is that constant agitation to compete or become jealous of our fellow men. This began when man fell into sin. However, Jesus Christ came to undo the errors of Adam. We have been restored back to Eden before the fall when man was truly who he was supposed to be. Galatians 3:26, 28. “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” In Christ, we are equal irrespective of gender, age or race. How Do The Desires of Daily Living Take Control of Our Heart From God?
We all go through experiences that break us. We go through situations that bring us to a state of calmness, weakness, humility and absolute dependence on God. Sometimes, it can be a heartbreak, failure, loss, sickness, or challenges of some sort. In a moment, our spirits are won over to Christ when we are born again but winning our soul, the development of character, and the breaking of bad habits can be very daunting. Brokenness is one of the ways God has often employed to deal with our sins and pride so that His purpose for our lives can be established. Until the flask was broken, the perfume could not be poured on the Lord (Mark 14:3). Until the clay jars were broken, the light from the torch within them could not be released (Judges 7:16-19). Within us are potentials, talents, gifts, and values shrouded and locked up in bad and dangerous habits. Our clay jars need to be broken so that the graces within us can be released. Meanwhile, brokenness can be traumatic. No one, in the natural state, wants to go through the experience. This is why we need healing after an experience of brokenness. So, how can my brokenness be healed with the Lord’s help? Be inspired by the purpose of the brokenness. When you keep your focus on the reason why God is taking you through the process, your healing will be quick. You need to remember that he doesn’t wound for the sake of harming us but so that we can be partakers of the divine nature (Hebrews 12:10-11). But when you beat yourself up or regret, the wound will fester. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Remember that God is committed to your quick recovery. He wants you to be healed as soon as possible. This is why Hosea 6:1-2 says, “Come, and let us return to the Lord; for He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up. After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His sight.” Lamentations 3:31-33 also says, “For the Lord will not cast off forever. Though He causes grief, yet He will show compassion according to the multitude of His mercies. For He does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.” Stay close to the Lord. The closer you are to Him, the faster your healing. In His presence, the healing balm is poured on the wounds sustained through our experiences of brokenness. Rejoice. If you continue to mourn, it will aggravate the sorrow in your heart. Instead, rejoice! Nehemiah 8:10 says, Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” The more joyful you are, the stronger you will become. Obey. Sometimes, the key to our total healing is obedience. Maybe the reason the Lord is trying to break us is our disobedience to an instruction. Go and obey. Do what the Lord is showing you to do. Go and confess that sin. Go and give the right information. Obey. Give it time. Time heals all wounds. So, give it time. Be patient with yourself and the wounds in the heart will be healed in time. Remember, the process of brokenness is for your good and God is committed to your healing. He wants to bring the best out of you through the process. So, stay hopeful!
Death is a reality. Unfortunately, we don’t take it serious until someone very close to us dies and we are gripped with grief. Suddenly, we realize that we will never see the person again. It becomes more real with passing days and we are forced to accept a fact we are not prepared for. It is more painful when the person is still young. One would normally expect that an aged person will soon die. Sometimes, we even rejoice especially if the person has lived an exemplary life. But how do we cope when the unexpected happens? A typical example in the Bible was the case of Lazarus in John 11:1-44. People cried, mourned and were grieved until Jesus raised him back to life. So, how can God help me with my grief when I lost someone? Accept the fact that the person has passed away. When we quickly accept the reality before us, it reduces our grief. But when we begin to regret or beat ourselves up, our grief will increase. Thinking about what we could have done will fester the wound in the heart. This was what Mary and Martha were doing when Jesus eventually arrived. They told Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died (John 11.21).” After Mary said this even Jesus became grieved and wept. This is what happens when we fail to accept the reality and we keep living in regret Cry, Weep and Mourn. Let the tears flow. This is one way to release the grief in the heart. It is dangerous to behave as if nothing serious has happened. It is normal to cry. Jesus also wept at the death of Lazarus. It was His way of expressing His grief. When we cry and weep, we are relieved. It helps us release the pain in the heart, calms our emotions, enhances the mood, clears the vision and aids sleep. Surround yourself with people who can console you. We should avoid being lonely in seasons of grief. Spend time in prayer and meditate on God’s word. In prayer, we release the burdens of our hearts and our griefs are relieved. In the word, we receive inspiration that soothes our heartaches. Be consoled in the hope that you will see the person again. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 says, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.” Mary and Martha consoled themselves in the faith that they would see Lazarus again in the resurrection even before Jesus raised him up. Death is neither final nor fatal. If we die in Christ, we will be raised back to life. This is why it is very important that we pray and work towards the salvation of our loved ones while they are alive. The greatest grief is the realization that a loved died in his or her sins. In addition, we should take time to rest. With time, we will get over the grief and become refreshed. May we find hope and healing in our seasons of grief.
Confidence is an inevitable virtue for a victorious Christian life. It takes confidence to face challenges and overcome. It takes confidence to accept our mistakes and correct them. It takes confidence to be responsible in life. We need confidence to speak in the public without fear especially in preaching the gospel. We need to note that the confidence of yesterday cannot suffice for today. We have to refill. Some were confident yesterday but they have lost all hope today. We have to refill our confidence tank in the same way we refill the gasoline tanks of our vehicles. We will become stranded and grounded once we run out of confidence in the race of life. So, how do I become more confident in myself with the Lord’s help? Accept Yourself. Accept who God has made you to be. This is the beginning of confidence. Until we appreciate who God has made us, we will never be confident. We must outgrow that feeling of inadequacy. God made no mistake in giving you that skin color, your voice, your height, your parents, siblings, and your friends. Life may seem unfair but you need to understand that all things including your seemingly unpalatable experiences are working together for your good, Romans 8:28. Remember Joseph? He didn’t know until he got to the palace of Pharaoh that the gory experiences of the pit, Potiphar’s house and the prison were divinely orchestrated routes to his place of destiny. So, accept yourself, accept your unique experiences, and be confident! Find Your Why. If you don’t know why you are doing a thing, you will keep losing confidence. Much more than the reason for doing a thing, you need to find out why you are on earth. As a matter of fact, one of the keys to self-acceptance is discovering and fulfilling your purpose in life and God has a specific plan for your life. In Jeremiah 1:5, God told Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” This word is not peculiar to Jeremiah. You might not be a prophet to the nations but perhaps you are a writer, teacher, pastor, engineer, doctor, scientist or an athlete to the nations. You will have more confidence in life when you discover the Lord’s purpose for your life. Take Action. The more the actions you take the more the confidence you will gain. Your confidence will increase with practice. You will gain mastery. You will become an expert. Often when God asks us to do a thing, we feel inadequate or ill equipped to perform the task. But God often does not speak with respect to our current circumstances but based on our potential and posterity. He knows who we are and what we have the capacity to do. This is why it is dangerous to delay or procrastinate. Take action. Take the first step today. Peter didn’t know he could walk on the water until he stepped out and walked towards Jesus. Above all, be close to the Lord in prayer and daily meditation in the word. No other spiritual exercise renews and reinforces our confidence. Stay confident! Why Do Christians and Non Christians Need Help From God?
