The Bible likened faith in Jesus Christ to giving birth to a baby. It is called spiritual birth. Jesus told Nicodemus that he needed to be born again John 3:3, 5-8. Therefore, just as a baby born into the physical world needs a lot of help and support so is someone newly born into God’s family. Also, the experience of a believer at the time of spiritual birth will lay the foundation for his/her Christian experience throughout his/her life. The righteous can run into a crisis if the foundation is faulty. This is why a new believer needs proper and utmost spiritual attention at the time of spiritual birth. The following are some things that can be done to help a new believer: Help Them Understand Their New Identity in Christ People tend to trivialize their spiritual experience because it doesn’t feel spectacular. Not many believers will go through a dramatic conversion experience like that of Paul on the road to Damascus. All a person needs to do to be saved is acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Lord and confess Him with your mouth Romans 10:9-10. This is why it is important to help new believers understand the implications of their commitment and who they are in Jesus Christ. For example, in 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul teaches that anyone in Christ is a new creation, with old things passing away and new things coming. Helping new believers understand their new identity in Christ is key to helping them overcome past struggles and live out their faith boldly. Feed Them With the Right Spiritual Diet. There is a scriptural prescription for the kind of spiritual food a new believer should eat. 1 Peter 2:2 says, “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” The ultimate goal is to help a new believer grow in his knowledge of God and this requires “the pure milk of the word.” Hebrews 5:12-13 also confirmed that what a new believer needs is the milk of the word. It says, “…you need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.” New believers must be helped to find this milk so that they can grow. Encourage Fellowship, Community and an Environment of Love and Support In Hebrews 10:24-25, the writer of Hebrews encourages believers to not forsake assembling together but to encourage one another. New believers need a community where they can grow, receive support, and be encouraged. Helping them connect with a church or small group is essential for their spiritual growth. Pray and Intercede for Them Consistently In Ephesians 1:16-18, Paul consistently prayed for the believers he discipled, asking God to give them wisdom and revelation to know Him better. Praying for new believers is crucial, asking God to strengthen their faith, protect them from spiritual attacks, and guide them in their journey. In Galatians 4:19, Paul’s prayer for the Galatians highlights the kind of prayer that ought to be prayed for new believers. He said, “My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you.” Seeing believers become mature until Christ is formed in them should be at the center of the prayer for new believers. Avoid Condemnation When They Make Mistakes Just like growing-up kids, new believers are bound to slip as they learn to walk with God. The way the situation is handled by mature believers around them can determine the quality of their experience in their journey as Christians. Galatians 6:1 instructs, “Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.” Instead of condemnation, the goal should be restoration in the spirit of gentleness. Avoid Giving Responsibilities Beyond the Ability of the Believer Sometimes, the church tends to make the mistake of showing off new believers with spectacular testimonies of deliverance from the kingdom of darkness when they ought to sit down and learn the tenets of the faith. Such unripe exposure to spiritual responsibilities may be harmful to their spiritual experience. Teach the Basics of the Faith In the early church, new believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer Acts 2:42-47. You can help new believers by teaching them the foundational truths of the faith, such as understanding who Jesus is, the significance of His death and resurrection, and the importance of prayer and Scripture. Model a Christlike Life Paul told the Corinthians to imitate him as he imitates Christ, 1 Corinthians 11:1. New believers often learn by observing more mature Christians. By living out your faith authentically, you provide an example for them to follow in their own walk with Christ. Provide Ongoing Discipleship and Accountability Jesus’ Great Commission instructs us to make disciples, teaching them to observe everything He commanded, Matthew 28:19-20. Discipleship isn’t a one-time event but an ongoing process. Walk alongside new believers, guiding them through the Scriptures, answering their questions, and helping them apply biblical principles to their lives. Hold them accountable until they begin to observe all the commandments of Jesus. Encourage them to Share Their Faith The Samaritan woman at the well immediately shared her encounter with Jesus, leading many in her town to believe in Him as recorded in John 4:28-30, 39. Encourage new believers to share their faith with others, as it strengthens their own belief and helps spread the gospel. By applying these biblical principles, you can effectively support and encourage new believers in their journey with Christ.

Many believe that they ought to be completely exempted from the challenges of life because they have put their faith in God. This mindset is why many have lost their faith in God. They fall into despair wondering why a good God whom they have served faithfully would allow bad things to happen to them. However, contemporary and biblical examples have shown that troubled times are often inevitable in life. We need not despair when faced with challenging situations as children of God. The most faithful of God’s people have had to deal with tremendous life troubles. Job is said to be blameless such that God commended him before Satan yet he faced tremendous troubles. All his children died and all his investments were destroyed. He also lost his health and the trust of his wife and friends. Jesus, the Son of God, is known to be sinless yet He was killed like a criminal in a public place. Who else should have been exempted from life’s circumstances if not the Son of God? Zachariah and Elizabeth were known to be people of impeccable character; serving the Lord faithfully as priests in the temple yet they were barren for several years. Jesus never promised us a life free of challenges. What we are promised is a victorious life irrespective of the battle. We are fighting a battle that is already won. John 16:33 says, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” It can be very difficult to go through a challenging situation. We need to be equipped with the required understanding that helps us sail through whatever trouble we are faced with. So, how does God help us through troubled times? We go through troubled times gallantly when we remember God’s promises. God’s unfailing promises from His word are the fuel that helps us go through challenging situations victoriously. It is difficult to survive life’s storms without feeding consistently on God’s word. We must learn to draw inspiration from the living word of God in times of challenges. We go through troubles gallantly when we focus on God’s end. James 5:11 says, “Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.” God has a purpose when He allows His children to go through troubles. God will not allow any of His faithful children to suffer for the fun of it. There is always an “end intended by the Lord.” But we are often shielded from fully understanding what God has in mind when we are in the midst of the storm. We only get to understand after God has taken us through them. For example, Jesus has to die because that is the price for saving humankind. Without His death and resurrection, He will never become the captain of our salvation. It will not be difficult to go through troubles if we trust the Lord for His intended end. We go through troubles gallantly when we give ourselves to heartfelt prayers. Just like God’s word, it will be hard to survive troubles and challenges if we are not committed to prayer. Jesus had to increase the intensity of His prayer when He was about to face the cross. The Bible records that “he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground” (Luke 22:44). The time of trouble is the time to increase the intensity of prayer. We go through troubles gallantly when we belong to a supportive community of faith. God helps us through troubled times by surrounding us with people in the community of faith who provides spiritual, physical and emotional support. Troubles become more challenging when we are going through them alone but the burden becomes bearable when we are surrounded by burden-bearers. This is why every child of God needs to belong to a local church. We go through troubles gallantly when we remember that troubles are raw materials for God to reveal His power and glory. When Jesus heard about the sickness of Lazarus, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it” (John 11:4). This is the view we must have of our challenges. Smile at the storm and say it loud to God as you present your challenges to Him, “Lord, here is another opportunity for You to showcase your glory!” If we employ these provisions of God, it will not be difficult to sail through whatever trouble comes our way. As the scriptures say, we will be rejoicing in tribulations (Romans 5:3).

A lot of hustle and bustle goes on in the world today. People are worked up. People are busy, and most of the time with unproductive work. People cannot show tangible results for a supposed busy day. So many people who seem to be externally successful are struggling internally. Mental health issues are common today. People are grappling with suicidal thoughts, depression and high blood pressure; all of which points to the fact that people are restless. This raises a burgeoning question, how can one find rest in a busy world with God’s help? The following offers some answers to this question: Spend Quality Time Daily in God’s Presence: God’s presence is the ultimate source of true rest. In Exodus 33:14, God promised Moses and the Israelites, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” As you grow in the discipline of staying in God’s presence daily, the level of the inner rest that you experience increases. There is going to be an increased level of serenity and tranquility. Consequently, it will lead to external rest. Like Solomon, you will experience rest on every side of your life (1 Kings 5:4). People who rarely find time to meditate in the Word of God and pray will often be anxious, agitated and worried. If you want your heart to constantly be at peace, the secret is to get to His presence, always praying, supplicating and giving thanks (Philippians 4:6-7). He has given you an open invitation to come if you need rest. He said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:28-29). Will you come? Find and Fulfill God’s Purpose for Your Life: God has a specific purpose for everyone on the face of the earth. God’s word to Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5 is also true of everyone. He said, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” You might not be called to be a prophet like Jeremiah but God definitely has an assignment for you. Remember, “…we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). You will always feel restless if you don’t have that conviction or sense of fulfillment that your life is being spent for what it was made for. You will be lost in the rat race. You will be under pressure when it seems others are making progress and you are stuck to a spot. You will begin to feel jealous and compete with others. You will make wrong decisions because you want to please people. Discovering and fulfilling your purpose keeps you from distractions and helps you maximize your time, resources and energy which consequently leads to inner peace and rest. Live One Day at Time: One of the causes of restlessness is the uncertainty about what might happen tomorrow. When there is no guarantee of a future, you are bound to become agitated. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus warned three times, “Do not worry.” This is a very clear commandment. Specifically, in verse 34, He said, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” You cannot be worried and also be at rest. The solution is to live one day at a time. Prayerfully trust Him for the need of each day. Don’t let the anxiety about tomorrow incapacitate you today. Learn to always cast all your cares on Him since He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Be Content: Another reason people become restless is the desire to acquire what they don’t need. In a world where materialism has become the ultimate yardstick to define success, many are killing themselves just to belong to the society. People are hustling just acquire things to satisfy their lusts. 1 Timothy 6:8 says, “And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.” In other words, once you have food and clothing, you should be satisfied. It is the lack of contentment with these basic things that makes you restless. Through God’s grace, we can live a restful life in a restless world. We don’t have to live the same cumbersome and busy life that the people of the world live. All we have to do is align our lives with His words and we will begin to have and experience His rest.

“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matthew 5:44 We live in a society that teaches us to repay evil for evil and to some degree, this should not surprise us. After all, it’s part of our sinful human nature to seek vengeance. Whenever someone wrongs us, our immediate reaction is not mercy, but anger and malice. This mindset, however, is not pleasing to God. All throughout the Bible, Jesus emphasizes a simple, yet difficult command: love your enemies – no matter who they are or what they’ve done. What does this look like? How can we possibly show love toward those who have hurt us deeply? Scripture gives us a good place to start. First, the Bible tells us that all human beings are made in the image of God. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Above every other creature, God set humans apart and gave them attributes of Himself. We have the unique ability to create, to destroy, to think, to feel, and to love and because of this, we have intrinsic value and worth. We are all equal before our Creator. The person you consider your enemy is equally valued, equally desired, and equally loved by God. Once we accept this simple truth, our attitudes can begin to shift, and our actions will follow. Once we come to see our enemies as fellow humans in need of redemption, we can begin to forgive them. In Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus says, “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” The implications of this verse are huge. While we were still sinners, Jesus died for us. He forgave us for a debt that we could never repay. Now, as His followers, it’s up to us to extend that same forgiveness toward others. Whenever we feel reluctant to love our enemies, we need only to remember what Christ has done for us. Finally, we can love our enemies by caring for their wellbeing. Romans 12:20 says, “To the contrary, ‘if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.’” It can be so tempting to wish ill on the people who have caused us great suffering. But the Bible makes it clear that our response to wrongdoing should be unconditional love and mercy. We show them love so that the Holy Spirit might convict them and lead them to repentance in Christ. Loving our enemies is something that takes time and practice and the deeper the cut, the harder it can be, but this hard process is a necessary part of the Christian life. It brings peace to us and ultimately, glory to God.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 We serve a God who is, in many ways, mysterious to us. His ways are far above our ways; our finite minds can’t wrap around the entirety of who He is. Yet He desires a relationship with us, and so He has revealed great parts of Himself to us in many ways. One of those ways is through the Bible. It would be impossible to cover all the attributes of God revealed in the Bible, but here are some key ones that we see, from cover to cover. First, in the Book of Genesis, God is revealed as the Creator. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” That’s it. No philosophical debate, no list of scientific evidence. Just the absolute, indisputable truth that God created all things. He is the only one who is able to create “something” out of nothing. And, perhaps, most beautifully, we read that God handmade the first man, Adam, out of the dust and gave to him the breath of life. He crafted us so carefully and lovingly, and everything He created exists to glorify Him. Skipping ahead to the New Testament, we see God revealed in the form of His Son, Jesus Christ. Consider John 14:9: “Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.’” As Christians, we believe in one God in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each member is equal, yet with a unique role. And so, we cannot know God the Father unless we know God the Son – Jesus. As we read in scripture about Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we receive great insight into the heart of God Himself. Finally, in the Book of Revelation, God is revealed as the judge of the living and the dead. He offers all of us salvation and forgiveness of sins through the blood of Jesus. But for those who don’t repent, for those who reject the gospel, justice is coming. God is holy, and He cannot allow sin to go unpunished. This attribute of God should lead us to praise Him for His perfection. And it should motivate us to preach the gospel boldly, that many might be saved from the wrath that they deserve. These two attributes of God – His holiness and His mercifulness – are among that most vivid and amazing truths revealed to us in God’s Word. How Do The Desires of Daily Living Take Control of Our Heart From God? Why Do Christians and Non Christians Need Help From God?

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1: 2-4 Perseverance is something that everyone wants to gain, but many people do not want to work for it. After all, wouldn’t it be great if we could all be strong and fearless in the face of adversity? Wouldn’t it be perfect if enduring hardship came naturally to us? But this is not how life works. Perseverance has to be earned and built through many trials and tough decisions. The testing of our faith may not be pleasant, but it produces an important fruit, the ability to stand stronger the next time we are tested. So how can this be? First of all, when our faith is tested, we realize just how dependent we are upon God. When we are at the end of our rope, we come to accept that there is nothing we can do to save ourselves, we are completely in the hands of God alone. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” If life was always perfect and painless, then we would never know how powerful the grace of God is. It is by trials that we come to understand that we are weak, and our strength comes from Christ, who will never fail us and so, as we face more trials in the future. We can be confident that just as God helped us before, He will help us again. The testing of our faith also gives us wisdom. The first time we encounter difficulty, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. Everything is uncertain, and we aren’t sure which choices to make or how to react in the best way. As it turns out, much of life is trial and error. But the lessons we learn along the way aren’t just a coincidence. On the contrary, God’s plan for our lives is divinely orchestrated. He knows exactly what we need to learn and how we need to learn it, often through discipline. So, when we find ourselves struggling with faith in a situation, we can draw upon the experiences we’ve already faced and what God has taught us in the past. Romans 5:3-4: says, “More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.” Rejoicing in suffering sounds nearly impossible, but it is what we are called to do as followers of Christ. We can persevere with even greater strength than the rest of the world, because we have advantage that they don’t, faith in Jesus Christ. Even when this faith is tested, and we find ourselves wrestling with doubt, we know that all of our suffering creates perseverance as we go through life. How Do The Desires of Daily Living Take Control of Our Heart From God? Why Do Christians and Non Christians Need Help From God?

Guest Contributor Pastor Dalarian’s Message Let’s always keep God the central focus of our lives! John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Did you know that Jesus gave us the right to use his name by his death, burial and resurrection? In, John 16:23-24, he said “in that day ye shall ask me nothing.” “Verily, verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.” That’s for all believers, Jesus gives you the power of attorney to legally transact business in his kingdom as a believer. We have full legal redemptive rights in his name. That was blood bought, promised and with family rights to use in the name of Jesus. In Romans 2:29, “But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. This was the promise that God made to Abraham. Now we are part of that promise, these are some of our benefits that come with our salvation, baptism and worshiping in spirit and truth. The power to combat against satan, through healing, prayer and preaching the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit, the fruits of the Spirit; Galatians 5:22-26 and with the full armor of God we may “be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” That’s powerful. It is sharper than a two-edged sword ⚔️. Ephesians 6:13 -17. Don’t lose your rights. Amen

“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2 Prayer can seem like a daunting task and many Christians both old and new, find themselves wondering how they should approach it. When is the best time to pray? What should we say, and how should we say it? However, what we should try to realize is that prayer is actually quite simple. Prayer is, at its core, talking to God. While we can tell Him anything, there are definitely some guidelines that will help us to better enter into His presence. Jesus teaches His disciples to pray in Matthew 6:9-13: “Pray then like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.’” So let’s break down the parts of this famous prayer. Praise and surrender. When we come before the Lord in prayer, we should always do so with reverence and awe. We are speaking to the Creator of the whole universe, the one who is in control of all things. So, we should praise Him for His greatness, His mercy, and His faithfulness. We should pray that His will, above all else, is accomplished – for His plan is always good. We all need things to survive – food, water, shelter but, the most important thing that every human needs is the Word of God. Jesus is the only one able to nourish our souls, each and every day. We should definitely pray for our earthly needs; but perhaps even greater is our spiritual need for Him. When we recognize that we have sinned, the first thing that we should do is confess it to God. When we repent, He will forgive us out of His great love and in turn, He will help us to forgive others. Every day, there is a battle being fought over our souls. The enemy tries to deceive us into leaving the will of God to chase after sin. Since we are human, we are bound to make mistakes and give into temptation but, if we ask God for the strength to resist and the desire to choose Him instead, He will deliver us. Note that while these components are all important, a valid prayer doesn’t require all of them at once. As long as your heart is right with God, there is no wrong way to pray. John 15:7 says, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” The goal of prayer is to build our relationship with God, and by faith, each word you speak will help you reach that goal. Why Do Christians and Non Christians Need Help From God?
