We are in a time when so many are losing their faith in God. People are giving up on God. Some people who go to church have backslidden secretly. We are living in a time where there are many false allegations and untruths that are not scripturally based on the Word that God has given to us from His Bible.
God looks for a remnant, people through whom He will reveal to the world that He is still God irrespective of the challenges. He needs people who will still put their trust and faith in Him in a time like this.
So, how are others helped when I put my faith in God? How can my faith positively impact others?
Hebrews 6:11-12 says,
“And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
Scripture also defines faith as “knowing what lies ahead for you” even though you haven’t seen it physically. It says if you have this kind of faith, “you won’t become bored with being a Christian nor become spiritually dull and indifferent.” The Christian life is boring without faith. One soon becomes spiritually dull and indifferent. The fervor and drive is lost without that inner knowing that something great lies ahead of us. This is why so many are losing their faith. They have come to a point where they can no longer see a future with God.
However, this scripture also shows us one way our faith can be helped or reignited. It says, we can “follow the example of those who receive all that God has promised them because of their strong faith and patience.” In other words, when we see someone who went through what we are going through, we become inspired to go through it.
To bring this point home, the writer of Hebrews began to give us examples that we can relate with. Hebrews 6:13-15 says, “For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.” God gave Abraham a son, Isaac as He had promised.
This is the biggest way your faith in God helps others. You become God’s instance to your generation. You become the go-to person when God needs to encourage or inspire another person. You become an inspiration, the person from whom others draw comfort in trials.
Think of Joseph and Job. Why do we read stories of Esther, Hannah, Ruth and a host of others? It is simply because they are God’s prototype of what it means to have faith.
Your faith in God gives you a ministry to others; a ministry you will never have if you have never put your trust in God. Our faith in God gives us the opportunity to reach out to people; they are compelled to ask and know about your God. You become the reference point before God and man.
This is why you should never be part of those “who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.” Hebrews 10:39
