The Lord does forgive us and understands that we are not perfect and that we do make mistakes. In this world, there are many forces that may put us in a direction or path that may not be where God is leading us to go. You may decide at a particular moment in time, that you know what is best for you instead of letting God take you in the right direction and you become burdened and troubled with problems that you did not expect or anticipate, and you may feel that you have nowhere or no one to turn to. You may think that you cannot turn to the Lord for help because you turned your back on him and he will not forgive you. That would be a mistake because God can and will forgive you. He loves you and wants you to talk to him and ask him to forgive your sins and talk about what you are going through. The Lord is always there for us no matter when we need him. “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Ephesians 1.7
It is so amazing how our Lord loves us so much that he is willing to forgive us no matter what we have done and no matter who we are. All we have to do is ask God to forgive us and he will do this for us. It does not matter if we think we do not deserve his forgiveness. The Lord will give us forgiveness through his love, grace and mercy for us. In Isaiah 55.7, “Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.”
Forgiving others is also important for us to do and is a significant part of the Lord forgiving us for our sins. Not holding animosity, anger or grudges against another person is part of forgiving them and assists us in being able to heal from being wronged by others. The Lord says in Matthew 6. 14-15, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
So, you see the Lord will forgive you for your sins and you can always go to him and ask him for forgiveness. You have an open invitation anytime to speak with God because he is always available at anytime for us whenever we need him. In Joshua 1.9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
