What many Christians know about God is that He is powerful and works miraculously. Psalm 92:5 “O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep.” The Bible also made it clear that our body is God’s temple and God is in us dwelling in our hearts. Knowing all these, Christians still find themselves asking the question, “how does God work in me if He dwells in me?” people want to know and be able to discern the work of God in them. There are different ways by which God works in us.
By speaking to us
John 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” One of the ways that God shows His work in us is by speaking directly to us. There are different ways by which God speaks to us. He uses His word to speak to us. When we need things or want solutions to the problems we are facing – He comes and then gives the solution by speaking to us.
Many people that needed saving, God uses us to help them too and He tells us the secrets, the things that must be done by these people to solve their problems.
By strengthening our faith
God strengthens our faith in Him and one way He does it is by doing the things we ask him in the name of Jesus. John 14:13 “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” The glorification of our Lord God is important and Jesus is promising that all we have to do is to ask Him whatever we need. When He answers us, it strengthens our faith in him and whenever we pray next time, we have the courage and the assurance to go to Him believing he will answer us because He works in us.
Through the Holy Spirit
The Holy is not just any spirit, He is the spirit of God that has been given to us by Him so we can experience the greater works of God. When Jesus was leaving, He promised the Holy Spirit and He said the Holy Spirit will teach all things. John 14:17. Teaching us all things means God is working in us and exposing the things that we need to know. The Holy Spirit ministers to us – it is through the Holy Spirit that the apostles got the power of God. It was through the Holy Spirit that they had the confidence to preach the word and perform miracles.
Giving us the heart to serve Him
It would be easier to say we want to work for God than taking action. Many people would love to work for God but not all end up doing that. It takes the spirit of God to have the heart of working for God and then keeping to it. Having the zeal to work for God makes us understand that it is God that is working in us.
Through the spirit of confidence
It is God who gives confidence to Him people to preach the good news. It takes the power of God in us to stand out and face people without fear. It takes an anointing to achieve this. The apostles were initially afraid of facing the world and telling them that they belong to Christ. Peter denied Jesus in this process. When they were anointed, the spirit of fear left them and they gained confidence. Luke 4:18. It is through this anointing that we get the spirit of confidence. 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind.”
By providing
Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who can do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” The power of God in us provides for all we need. When we ask from God, He surprises us by doing more than we have asked. This is why we were told in Mathew 6:25-34 not to worry about the things we will need tomorrow because the way God works is powerful and does not include worrying. He provides in a way that amazes us.
Fulfilling His promises
The promises of God to us are many and all of these promises, none would go without being fulfilled. He said in His word that He will nor leave us or forsake us. Deuteronomy 31:6. The plans that He has for us are good ones and He will fulfill them. Jeremiah 29:11.
Through His power
When we talk about the power of God in us, we are talking of possibilities, the ability to do all things in the name of Christ. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” When we lay hands on the sick and they receive their healing when we pray and answers come, when we see success in all we do, and when we get solutions to our problems, we know that the power of God works in us and through this we will do great exploits.
