Does God See Us As Equal To Each Other?

By human standards, there is obvious inequality among men and women. One noticeable aspect of life where inequality is often measured is the area of our financial status. There is a huge gap between the rich and the poor; the political elite class and the masses. Sometimes this inequality is created as a result of education, exposure or location around the world.

Racism is still a challenge in the world it is based on the belief that someone thinks that they are superior to another person due to his or her skin color.

Gender is also a very sensitive area where there is inequality. Women have been seen in some cultures as inferior to men for a very long time in history.

There are other divides amidst men and women. The world system is such that one is often made to always compete with fellow humans so you won’t become inferior. Most people now live their entire life trying to outsmart others.

In spite of all these, the question is, “Does God sees us as equal to each other?” The following is proof that we are equal before God,

  1. He created us all in His image. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Nobody is less of God’s image right from the beginning. We are all equal before Him because we are created in His image.

  2. He never gave us dominion over one another. The dominion He gave us was over “the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28. No man was meant to dominate the other because we are all equal.

Unfortunately, man fell into sin. The enemy made man believe that he was inferior. He sold the idea of a higher or superior place to him and he bought it. He told him God had subdued him and hidden certain things from him and man fell for the lie.

“Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.” Genesis 3:4-6.

This remains the devil’s strategy; making us feel that we are less, inferior, disadvantaged or misplaced. There is that constant agitation to compete or become jealous of our fellow men. This began when man fell into sin.

However, Jesus Christ came to undo the errors of Adam. We have been restored back to Eden before the fall when man was truly who he was supposed to be.

Galatians 3:26, 28.

“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

In Christ, we are equal irrespective of gender, age or race.
